Botswana-Japan Friendship Association
Foundation of the Japan Botswana Friendship Association was a long-cherished desire of the Embassy of the Republic of Botswana in Japan as well as dedicated friends of Botswana who have a passion for further strengthening cordial relations that the two countries have enjoyed over the years.
Their goodwill and endeavour eventually evolved into establishment of the Association and its official launch took place on 30 September 2014 to coincide with the celebrations to mark the 48th Anniversary of Independence of Botswana. The first President of the Association is Mr. Ryoichi Matsuyama, President of Japan National Tourism Organization and Former Ambassador of Japan to Botswana.
The Association is a non-profit organization established with the mission of:
- Enhancing the bilateral relations between Japan and Botswana, inter-alia, in areas such as economic cooperation, cultural exchanges and academic exchanges.
- Facilitating friendly relations and mutual understanding between the peoples of Japan and Botswana through various activities and events.
The Association has a wide range of membership from former volunteers to Botswana to business entities that have pursued various projects in Botswana to propel progress of economic cooperation.
The events that the Association undertakes include: General Assembly, Botswana National Day Celebrations, Study Tour, Outing, Seminar/Workshop, Get-together, etc.
Membership is open to all individuals as well as corporations that are interested to play a role in promoting bonds of friendship and cooperation between Japan and Botswana. For more information, please contact:
